Paintball Macrolines and Microlines
About Airlines
Chosing and setting up a paintball marker can sometimes be confusing and one question often asked by players old and new is what is the difference between macroline and microline. Well, they both do the same thing: act as way to move gas around on the marker. There is where the similarities end, macroline is what most poeple use, is generally rated for lower pressures and has a larger air channel in it. Micro line is meant for higher pressures, has a smaller air channel and thicker sidewalls to hold that higher pressure in. Heres where it get tricky for most paintball applications you want to use macro-line because it has a higher flow, it can be rated at up to 3000 psi and is the general standard. Microline more often than not is found at a lower rating of 600psi to 900psi or less making it less versatile in paintball applications. Mircoline is sometimes used as autococker hosing since it runs the three ways at lower pressures of 125-100psi. The burst pressures are also different commonly the pressure needed to burst a marcoline is less than that of the microline.
Bill Mills once said: "The difference between macro and micro is that the macro is larger in diameter, and thus gasses can flow through it faster."
